I am an Associate Professor at the Department of History, Calcutta Girls’ College, in Kolkata and have received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. My dissertation was published as a book titled, Dueling Isms: Soviet and Regional Identity in Central Asia, in 2007. Some of my recent research articles on various aspects of Tajik culture, including painting, musicology, films, religion and gender issues, have been published in well acclaimed volumes and encyclopedias. Some of my research articles have featured in journals from India and abroad ,i.e., Asian Studies, Kalpakala, Contemporary Central Asia, Jadavpur Journal of History, Jadavpur Journal of International Relations and Education About Asia . With my deep learning on Tajikistan, I have presented papers in a number of national and international academic platforms.
